Why do women like sweets???
While looking at our picture at the phoebe's. I remember a certain topic that me and my office mates talked about while having our lunch at our cafeteria. We were talking about PMS (Post/Pre Menstrual Syndrome), what we feel when we have our menstruation and how we crave for certain foods especially sweets.
It has been a general cliche that having a sweet tooth is basically a girl thing but have you ever wondered why we have this intense cravings for sweets, perhaps a slice of cake, a pint of ice cream or a bar of chocolate?? To feed my curiosity I search the net and ask Mr. Google for possible answers.
Some women specifically crave sweets like candy bars during their periods or in the premenstrual phase. These cravings are often a sign of low blood sugar, especially if they are accompanied by feelings of fatigue and headaches. Some women's bodies become more responsive to insulin during their monthly cycle, making them more prone to blood sugar drops. Studies shows that sugar serves as a fuel of the brain hence the brain instigates a sugar craving in response to the need for more fuel. The good news is that even if you do constantly crave sweets, there are ways to beat the cravings. One of the best ways to not overindulge is to eat small and healthy meals every two to four hours so that your blood sugar does not get low and trigger cravings
